Active South City is the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan for the City of South San Francisco, currently in development and expected to be completed in late 2019. It will update existing plans and identify needs and opportunities to improve walking and bicycling in South City. The plan is currently focused on identifying the needs for bicyclists and pedestrians in the City.

As the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan progresses, ongoing project deliverables will be posted here. Please refer to the Project Schedule section for important dates related to when the documents will be published.


Active South City is scheduled to be conducted over an 18 month timeframe. The first phase of the Plan preparation is considering  existing conditions and needs. The second phase will identify potential recommended projects and programs  for future implementation.  The final phase will prioritize the proposed improvements and programs and develop a final plan.  Community engagement and outreach will be conducted throughout the planning process.
